FAQS

  • What are the benefits of being a Chef with Ghost Kitchens?

You will immediately have access to a modern design app where you will create your online restaurant. We provide you with a Chef Panel  where you will set up your micro-restaurant, and be able to see detailed information regarding your business including full transaction history,  orders, earnings, and analytics such as:

What are your most popular meals

How much you’ve made that day/week/month

All of your reviews

You will also choose a restaurant name, and upload photos, and descriptions of your menu items.

  • How often can I change my menu items?

To change menu items, switch the item you no longer wish to offer to "inactive" on the menu item page. When you want to offer that item again, toggle the switch back to "active."

  • How will I get paid?

We use Stripe for our payment processing. Money will be sent right to your bank account from Stripe. Ghost Kitchens accepts credit, debit, and soon Google Pay, and Apple Pay giving your customers many options. Payouts are 2-3 days after an order is placed.

  • What fees and costs are associated with being a Chef with Ghost Kitchens?

Joining and starting a micro-restaurant on Ghost Kitchens is free. There is a POS fee from Stripe of 2.9% + .30 the chef pays, and we deduct a small fee of 12% on food sales ONLY. You keep 100% of the tip, delivery fee, and taxes. You will want to calculate these fees into your costs.

  • How often can I work?

As often as you’d like! You pick the hours and days you want to work. There are no minimums or maximums.

  • What about food containers?

Providing food containers, along with all necessary items to serve your menu to customers, will be your responsibility. In the future, we plan to purchase these containers in bulk and offer them to our chefs at a significant discount.

  • How will my customers get their awesome food?

You can offer pickup from your home or cloud kitchen, delivery, or both. We don’t partner with delivery companies due to their high fees (30%). Instead, you can have a business partner, friend, spouse, child, or partner help with deliveries, or do it yourself (though this might take time away from cooking). If you choose to deliver, inform your auto insurance company.

  • What happens if someone gets sick from my food?

Though this is unlikely because of your training, the liability would fall on you as the provider of the dish. For this reason, obtaining liability insurance is required. (Estimated costs $40-50/mo.)

  • Do you plan on making any upgrades to the app?

We most definitely plan to make upgrades. The app is in beta right now, but feel free to give any feedback about what would be helpful to you as a chef.
